KS3

All students in Year 10 have one period of Business Studies each week. This is to give students an introduction to Business Studies and topics covered will include

  • Marketing

  • Customer Service

  • Business Ownership

  • E-commerce

  • Finance

KS4

Students will work towards CCEA GCSE Business Studies.

Unit 1 – Business Start Up. In this unit students will study how a business starts up and the importance of the role of the entrepreneur. The following topics will also be covered: Production and Marketing.

Unit 1 will be a written examination of 1 hour 20 minutes duration and will have structured questions.
This examination is worth 35% of the overall GCSE qualification.
This examination will be taken at the end of Year 11.

Unit 2 – Business Development. This unit will cover the following four themes:

  • Finance

  • Managing People

  • Business growth

  • Business Planning.

The written examination for Unit 2 will be of 1 hour 40 minutes and will have structured questions.
This examination paper is worth 40% of the overall GCSE qualification.

Controlled Assessment – Students will complete one task which is worth 25% of the overall GCSE qualification.

Post-16

The GCE Applied Business course aims to provide students with a broad introduction to the business sector and encourage the students to develop skills, knowledge and understanding in realistic business contexts.

AS     Unit 1 - The Enterprising Business
      Unit 2 -  The Enterprising Manager
      Unit 2 -  External Influences on the Business Environment
         
A2     Unit 7 -  Finance
      Unit 9 -  Enterprise In Practice
      Unit 10 -  Investing In People

Four of the units will be internally assessed and there are 2 externally assessed units.
