St Ciaran’s College has a thriving Music Department and students in all years have the opportunity to be involved in music in a variety of ways. Opportunities for all students to come together and perform are provided and instrumental tuition is available. Lessons in Piano, Guitar, Drums, and Voice are available from private tutors who visit the school and the SELB Music Service offers lessons for Brass, Woodwind and String instruments.

In addition to Junior and Senior Choirs and the Traditional Group there are other musical ensembles that perform at a wide range of events both local and beyond. The school enjoys an excellent reputation for musical productions. Past shows have included ‘Joseph and His Technicolor Dreamcoat’‘Blood Brothers’ and most recently the West End hit musical ‘Hairspray’.


Summer Recital 2015

In June 2015 the Music Department presented its inaugural Summer Recital. The programme featured a selection of students who study Music at all levels in St Ciaran's and students who avail of the extra-curricular tuition available.

Alongside their teachers, they presented an eclectic programme of music they prepared during the school year for performance in examinations and at various school events.



The Recital was a resounding success and invited parents, governors, teachers and friends enjoyed the afternoon's Music which provided a fitting end to the academic year in the Music Department.
