St Ciaran's enjoys a strong and interactive partnership with its feeder primary schools. Many events and activities take place throughout the academic year involving some or all of the primary school links we have established.
P6 Taster Day
P6 Creative Writing competition
P7 Maths Workshop
P7 Sentinus Workshop
On Monday 28th September 2016, a large group of Primary 7 students from local primary schools took part in an exciting Sentinus Workshop at St. Ciaran’s College, Ballygawley. The P7s were invited to help build on the already strong links between themselves and St. Ciaran’s and as well as learning new skills in Science and Engineering; they became more familiar with the St. Ciaran’s staff and students and had the opportunity to mix with pupils from other primary schools.
Peter Waugh from Sentinus, the home of STEM enrichment and enhancement activities for schools in Northern Ireland, facilitated the event and was ably assisted by the Year 13 Mentors who helped make the P7s feel so welcome. The P7 students worked in groups completing fun maths games with one another, before assembling their own solar panels which they had great fun testing!
St. Ciaran’s is proud of its strong relationship with the local primary schools and it was lovely for both the staff and students to see the excitement and enjoyment experienced by the primary school pupils involved. All students received a Sentinus Certificate for taking part and will no doubt have many happy memories of the day.
